After a night in Bologna, we headed to a town called Ferara. On the road to Ferara, Georgina noticed that Switzerland was really close to Italy and that we could conceivably go to the Lindt Chocolate Factory in Zurich. Interesting idea, I thought, but didn't really take it seriously at first, and neither did she. Then, we realized, hey, it wasn't such a bad idea after all. So we stopped at a Mackers and I phoned Thrifty's car rental and asked if we were allowed to drive into Switzerland. No problem, anywhere in Western Europe as long as we bring the car back to Italy at some point. Sweet. So off we went to Switzerland. We crossed the "border" later that evening (it wasn't much of a border, they first made us buy a thirty Euro highway sticker to allow us to use their roads, no passport checking at all - but at least there were no toll booths in Switzerland, just one lump sum). On our way to Zurich, I decided to take Georgina to the Interlaken area high atop the center of the country. We climbed high into the snowy mountains and stayed at a cozy Swiss chalet in Grindewald.
